J. Brahms: Intermezzo Op.116 No.4
Another experiment in combining video and audio recording:
Camera is the Olympus OM-D E-M1 MarkII. The audio track of this video comes directly from the camera and the camera is fed via its line-in input with a signal from a matched pair of Røde NT5 in NOS-configuration through a portable Tascam DR44-WL.
So far this is the minimal configuration I found to directly record decent audio into a decent camera. I am still looking for a micro four third camera that can process a direct signal from a USB audio interface, ideally at 24Bit/96kHz. My camera records at 16Bit/48kHz, which (unless you are willing to spend a 5 digit sum on a professional camera with direct XLR inputs) sadly is still state-of-the-art. And of course we have more analog pathways than one would wish.
Piano is a Steinway B from 1886.

Today it has finally arrived after months of careful restoration in an excellent Viennese master piano maker workshop. Still needs full voicing and regular tuning because of the new strings. Actually I spent more than 2 hours on pitch raising the beast from 434Hz to 440Hz. Tomorrow it's probably going to go to 443 and I'll try to get it stable as soon as possible. 3 Brahms Intermezzi: Op.117 No...

Kleiber may be the best I’ve ever seen. His Beethoven 5&7 recording is the GOAT
37:06. Damn.
10:01-10:08 is super extraordinary.
Honestly, this is one of the most impressive and impeccable orchestral performances I've ever seen. Music just lives with Kleiber. And of course the Concertgebouw is absolutely fantastic.
his owner no.4 be.
Seems a nice even tone and responsiveness. Looking forward to having a Nashville master RPT regulate and voice my "week old" 2000 M&H BB.
Спасибо
What a privilege that we have this beautiful document.
Very nice, thank you for this video. Could you tell me which audio settings you use in Mcpro24fps?
Magnifique, quelle leçon de musique !
Il benati era migliore
Carlos Kleiber is a joy to watch. A consummate artist who brings out the best of the orchestra and the music. Greatest left hand in the business. Amazing!!!
No wonder he did so few performances ...
Apart from the timpani hitch (which one can "unhear") this has to be the best Shost 8th of all. Sanderling always played it so every part was clear and, by displaying the structure as well as the sonics being perfect, his performances were on a sort of double level. Evidently standing in for a sick Gunter Wand, it is probable that Sanderling chose the 8th instead of what was on the original programme menu. Wand is not known to have ever conducted Shost 8th. We can only imagine what rehearsal time was available. This consideration makes the performance all the more miraculous.
Wand was scheduled to conduct Schubert's 8th and 9th symphony. Obviously Sanderling thought that the BPO was the perfect canvas for Shostakovich 8th symphony. I agree. I was there, twice and this was an earth-shattering experience, both times.
There are no comments under this video, so I wanted to write about how beautiful and talented your performance of the music is. Thank you. It's nice that it was filmed on mcpro24fps.
17:12-17:26 it's interesting how the first and second violins are zigzaggingly executing down bows and up bows!
Left hand of a ballerina
Magnifique !
All thanks to you sprinkling magic fairy dust over the piano!
Beautiful instrument and your playing has created such a mood. You did a wonderful job.✨️

Hallo Lufftatmer.
Most underrated pianist ever imo.

I wish, Carlos was still here. He left us in July 2004. Carlos Luis Bonifacio Kleiber (3 July 1930 - 13 July 2004) Not a too long life in our time.
magnificent!
Блистающий пьянист!
40:14
Amazing the sound of the instrument. Bechstein not only was a pianomaker, with his instruments he was a painter too, producing such extraordinary colourful sounds. I never heard such a sound quality by listening to other instruments made by different builders.
This is living music, you are drawn to it, listen, want more, dance along, laugh, be happy and at the end raise your arms for a standing ovation. Carlos is living music, he is the music. The champion of all time. No other interpretations of Beethoven's 4th are as fun as those by Carlos Kleiber. Chapeau!
Great! What is this concert hall’s name?
@@OE1FEU Thanks! I guess so. But I was surprised it’s very long stair .
It's called the "Concertgebouw", which is Dutch for "Concert Hall".
What a great musician and pianist!
I absolutely LOVE to watch Carlos Kleiber conducting!❤🎀 It is a delight!
I've been watching this record for the last 13y, and i'm still in love with!
Hi, great piece! I really enjoyed it! Also would it be possible for you or someone to tell me who the page turner is?🙏🏻 I feel like I saw her somewhere before🤔
The Gergiev Orchestra has better trumpets. Crisper and Clearer!
Hollywood music before Hollywood, Argerich of course is splendid.
One of the orchestra members once told me this anecdote: "We never played Beethoven with double woodwinds in those days, that was already deemed old-fashioned. But when Kleiber came to conduct us, everybody wanted to be there. So we just doubled again. When Mariss Jansons, our chief conductor in a later period, saw our Beethoven-Kleiber video, he asked: "but why the double winds?" And we answered: "Because...Kleiber!" And he understood" If you watch Beethoven's 7th, from later that night, you'll notice that the woodwind principals have switched. They 'divided the loot', so to speak ("You do the 4th, I do the 7th") th-cam.com/video/vwBEQYAwkfk/w-d-xo.html

Thank You, Peter, for the serious performance!👏 (I played this 22nd sonata by Beethoven on the final exam in 1988 in Moscow Conservatoire College, so, this sonata connected with very nice reminiscences for me!)
Solche Seilbagger wären heute viel zu unwirtschaftlich und sind daher längst durch die Hydraulikbagger ersetzt worden.
Lots of nice moments. I love how Beethoven can go from witty and playful one moment to dark and contemplative the next. This is an underrated sonata. Bravo.
В.В.Софроницкий говорил, что никто не обладал такой удивительной душой, как Шуберт.
C.Bechstein pianoforte is the best mark of piano in the world! (it's my favorite mark). And intermezzo by Brahms op.117 b-moll is one of my favorite Brahms's intermezzo. Many years ago l listened a record with Walter Gieseking with this b-moll intermezzo by Brahms- it's absolutely amazing! Very warm lovely tone and serious interpretation, excellent noble taste.Thank You, Peter! ...Would You like to tell me, please- what it the size of Steinung in your gorgeous Bechstein Flùgel- 52 mm or 47 mm? (it's very interesting for me!- because between old and new pianos, l've heard and seen- there is a difference in such parameters)
Wonderfull piece of Liszt! Very poetic perfomance, and piano has such beatiful tone and clear unisons. Thank You, Peter, for exellent performance. I enjoyed this fairy music.
